You can transfer WhatsApp chats and data from your old iPhone or Android to your new Android device.

This page contains instructions on how to transfer WhatsApp chats and data to a new Android device. They may not work for other operating systems or devices.
WhatsApp does not guarantee that your chats and data will be transferred. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact WhatsApp Support.
Transfer WhatsApp data from an Android device.
To transfer data from an Android device to a new Android device:
Step 1: Back up your WhatsApp data to your Google account.
Open WhatsApp on your old Android device.
Tap More at the top right.
Tap Settings, then Chats, then Chat backup.
Tap Backup.
Step 2: Install WhatsApp on your new device.
Important: If you transferred apps from your old device to your new Android, WhatsApp must be installed on your new device.
If you don’t have WhatsApp installed:
Go to the Google Play Store app.
Download WhatsApp.
Log in to WhatsApp with the same phone number you used on your previous device.
Step 3: Restore your WhatsApp data from a backup.
When prompted to restore your data, you’ll be given two options:
To restore over WiFi, tap Transfer from old phone.
To restore via the cloud, tap Restore from backup.
iPhone and iPad
Transfer WhatsApp chats from iPhone to Android.
Important:
Device transfer must be done through device setup.
If your device is already set up, factory reset it and set it up again. Learn how to reset your Android.
If you skipped data transfer during initial setup, you have 3-7 days after device setup to restore your chats from your iPhone.
If you’ve already received messages on your new device, the old content will replace the new content.
What do you need?
To transfer WhatsApp chat history from iPhone to Android, you’ll need:
USB-C to Lightning cable or a suitable cable to connect your iPhone and Android device.
This is usually your old iPhone charging cable; if the cable doesn’t fit, you may need an adapter.
The same phone number on your new device and your old device.
Your new Android device has been factory reset or has been reset to factory settings.
A stable Internet connection.
Transfer WhatsApp data and history from your iPhone.
Important: Keep your iPhone unlocked during the transfer process.
Turn on your new Android phone.
If your phone is already set up, you’ll need to factory reset it.
Follow the steps to copy apps and data from an iPhone to a new Android device.
Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi and signed in to a Google account.
When “Copy Apps & Data” appears on the screen, select Copy from iPhone or iPad.
When prompted, connect both phones with the cable from your old iPhone.
If you get a warning on your iPhone, tap Trust.
On the copy screen, tap the apps with other data you want to transfer.
To check if WhatsApp is included in the list of apps that will be transferred, tap Apps.
When prompted, confirm that you want to transfer your WhatsApp chats.
Use your iPhone’s camera app to scan the QR code that appears on your Android device.
If you can’t scan the QR code:

Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.
Go to Settings.
Tap Chats, then tap Transfer Chats to Android.
To start transferring data, on your iPhone, tap Get Started, then tap Start Transfer.
Once the data transfer is complete, sign in to WhatsApp on your Android phone.
